Perishable Goods Cancellation & Refund Policy

 

At Coffee Tales, cakes and baked goods are made to order using fresh, perishable ingredients. Due to the nature of our products, the following policy applies:

 

1. Order Confirmation

 

Orders are confirmed only once payment (full payment or required deposit) has been received.

 

2. Cancellations

 

Because our cakes are custom-made and perishable:

​

• More than 7 days’ notice: Deposits are non-refundable, but may be transferred to a future order (to be used within 12 months).

• 3–7 days’ notice: 50% of the total order value is non-refundable.

• Less than 72 hours’ notice: The order is non-refundable.

 

This is due to preparation time, ingredient purchasing, and reserved production space.

 

3. Date Changes

 

We will do our best to accommodate date changes with at least 5 days’ notice, subject to availability. Date changes requested within 5 days of collection/delivery may not be possible.

 

4. Custom & Speciality Cakes

 

Highly customised cakes, including bespoke designs or non-standard flavours, may require full payment upfront and may be non-refundable once design work and preparation have commenced.

 

5. Refunds

 

Refunds (where applicable under the terms above) will be processed using the original payment method within 7 business days.

 

6. Collection & Delivery

 

Once a cake has been collected or delivered and accepted, responsibility transfers to the customer. We are not liable for damage caused after collection, including improper storage, handling, or transport.

 

7. Quality Concerns

 

Please note that if your complaint relates to the taste, texture of the cake, or relates to an alleged hygiene matter, you must let us know within 24 hours of collection/delivery. You must preserve the cake, and bring it back to allow us to investigate. We are unable to offer refunds or compensation where we are not given the opportunity to assess the merits of complaints relating to taste, texture or hygiene by inspecting the cake.

 

8. How to end your contract with us before delivery

 

Subject to satisfying the conditions in Section 1 of this Policy, you may send a request to cancel your Order with us by writing to us at hello@coffee-tales.com.
